The River bank
We have a huge variety of visitors at the River. Merlindale Bridge provides perfect cover for Dippers who use the shadows on the water to jump in and snap up a bite to eat. The Ospreys regularly swoop by on their search for a meal and if you listen carefully the Oystercatcher and Common Sandpiper calls can be heard echoing down the river. Waterfowl such as Goosanders and Mallards also cruise about the river like mini boats. If you are lucky you might spot the Otters who like to wonder about the bank letting each other know of their presence through their scats.

Oystercatcher
The Oystercatcher prefers the banks of the river where he can find small insects on the rocks and in small crevices.
Mallard Chicks
Perhaps the cutest scene on the river as these chicks follow their mother.
Dipper
Time for a quick break on the rocks before another dive.
